Frankie Boyle Comedy God or Comedy Gobshite?

Is Frankie a Comedy God or Comedy Gobshite? The jury is still out.

Bill Hicks is a Comedy God because of his targets. Frankie, bless him, fires off because he has a great line and because he enjoys the shock he creates. So what do you think his targets are? Jordan, the Queen and Rebecca Adlington. I would say he got one out of three.

Comedy Targets

If a comedian doesn’t show you anything about the world or the human condition he’s an entertainer and that’s fine but we need to be stirred and made to think. Frankie does achieve that…sometimes.

Where does Frankie score?

He scores heavily as a Tony Hancock misanthrope with a Scottish feral and fucked off with the world animal attitude. He also scores heavily with his commitment to his craft (well almost, he let his Mock The Week Extra Podcast slip) and visiting places other stand ups wouldn’t dare.

The Comedy Jury is in

Frankie just makes it as a Comedy God but perhaps that is because the bulk of the comedy crop is dull, funny but happy to be entertainers only. But that’s there job you say! That’s right but we need another Bill Hicks, we need a new Billy Connolly (in rage-mode). Where are you?

You’re the jury. What do you think? Frankie Boyle Comedy God or Comedy Gobshite? Who’s out there with balls, wit and taking no hostages?
